We usually receive requests to do online shop websites or mobile e-commerce. We have the ability to do mobile e-commerce, but we prefer to do the desktop version only for e-commerce. Why is that? Because we forsee the behaviour of people, and we experienced it our selves, and agree, that mobile smartphones, is more for browse. And a serious activity on e-commerce which include money transactions, would make people to spare a little time to open a desktop computers or laptops to do buying activities.
Don't get me wrong, of course there will always be people that can handle to shop online with their mobile. Choose products, check out, do payment, confirm payment, those steps still much a hassle for most people to do with mobile devices. People that do online shop activities with their mobile devices, will still be minor for few years ahead.
Anything we can do about it? Of course, but people like to do everything in a simple way. But shopping online has many steps. Especially on the payment method process. Even we have like tons of payment methods that we can choose nowadays. Even paypal is popular, but it's not in some countries. If only we can minimize the steps for people when do check out, that would be great.
We might want to relate this mobile and pc thing with what Steve Jobs said at D8 Conference in 2010.
“When we were an agrarian nation, all cars were trucks, because that’s what you needed on the farm. But as vehicles started to be used in the urban centers, cars got more popular. Innovations like automatic transmission and power steering and things that you didn’t care about in a truck as much started to become paramount in cars. … PCs are going to be like trucks. They’re still going to be around, they’re still going to have a lot of value, but they’re going to be used by one out of X people.”
So, i think people would still prefer to use 'truck' to shop online for few years ahead.
